Kakkanad now houses a large number of government offices including Civil Station, the Panchayath office, the Cochin Special Economic Zone and of course the Airman Selection Board. Kinfra Park, Infopark and Biotechnology Park, had provided Kakkanad a place amongst the celebrity league of the most happening IT spots in India. Proximity to national highways, International airport, Sea-port and railway network augment its prominence further.
However, the main feature, which makes the place one of the most attractive strips of land in the global IT map, is the presence of the landing point of two optical cable network that opens a gateway to International connectivity. Lured by this fact, Kakkanad has now become the nesting place for many of the world famous IT giants, offsetting many of the negatives created by ruling parties.
All these activities had also side-affected in skyrocketing the price of land in last few years. The rental value has gone up substantially, even though suffered minor hiccups, amid recent meltdown occurred in the global economy.
However, all this incidents doubtlessly points to the fact that Kakkanad is fast emerging as a world class cosmopolitan city outweighing all odds and all this was triggered by one important factor, the booming IT industry.

Being at the outskirts of city of Cochin, Kakkanad, the administrative and IT headquarters of the Ernakulam district, is a land that is virtually free from all pangs of the congestions and confusions, which is consistent with city life.
